Wales

Wales has it all! For such a small country it offers mountains, valleys, beaches and cities along with activities such as cycling, walking, surfing and sailing.

With so much choice and each location offering something different - the Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia, Anglesey, Pembrokeshire and the cities of Swansea and Cardiff  to name just a few, it's a great place to bring the whole family.

Cottage holidays in Snowdonia

The Snowdonia National Park is an area of outstanding natural beauty covering 838 square miles and with some of the most magnificent scenery in the country.  It's a great area for cycling, climbing and hiking - a popular trek being Snowdon - the highest summit in Wales with a choice of seven main routes for you to reach the top.

If climbing mountains isn't your thing, the scenery itself is amazing with beautiful lakes such as Lake Bala, lots of beaches to choose from including Black Rock Sands and Barmouth, the historic town of Conwy with its castle, tourist shops and cafes and the ever popular seaside resort of Llandudno.  As an area with so much to offer, it's a fantastic place to rent a holiday cottage for the whole family.

Cottage holidays in Anglesey

A holiday in Anglesey offers access to over 100 miles of beautiful coastline within an area of outstanding natural beauty and, on a clear day, excellent views over to Ireland.  Added to this is pretty countryside and historic towns, such as Beaumaris with its impressive castle built by Edward I.  Favourite attractions are of course the beaches, from the unspoilt and sweeping sands at Llanddwyn Bay to the busier seafront at Benllech or the quiet and picturesque Cemaes Bay. If you love walking, cycling and scenery, this is the place for you. Renting a self catering holiday cottage is of course a great way to explore Anglesey's many attractions including it's restaurants - so why not sample a few of the culinary delights on offer from the Taste of Anglesey Food Trail guide, all using local produce?

Cottage holidays in the Brecon Beacons

The Brecon Beacons National Park spans over 500 square miles in Mid-Wales. Renting a holiday cottage here is a great way to make the most of your visit to this area of Wales - placing you within easy access to bustling market towns, miles of canal paths and country walks, castles, family attractions,  spectacular waterfalls and deep show caves.

Abergavenny is a traditional Welsh town and the gateway to the park. Here you'll find a well deserved reputation for quality food, an impressive castle and an interesting museum. Other attractions include the Brecon Mountain Railway, guided tours of the Big Pit coal mine and the famous Golden Valley over the border in Herefordshire.

Cottage holidays in Pembrokeshire

Set in the South West of Wales, Pembrokeshire is Wales' most popular coastal destination and home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK - with sands and surf to suit everyone, whether you're into riding the waves, walking, exploring or simply relaxing.

Those renting a holiday cottage in Pembrokeshire will find ancient fishing villages and historic towns, including Pembroke, Tenby and St Davids - the UK's smallest city. All the family will enjoy watching for whales, dolphins and porpoises off the 'Dolphin Coast', whilst there are miles of footpaths and bridleways ideal for those keen on exploring the beautiful countryside on foot, by bike or by horse.

With numerous other attractions including museums, a monkey sanctuary, castles and even a dinosaur park there is plenty to see and do for all age groups and whatever the weather.

Cardiff & Swansea

During the past 10 years Cardiff has established itself as one of the UK's top tourist destinations.  The recently constructed Millennium Stadium is now the city's most famous landmark, but there are also museums, the castle, great restaurants and a vibrant nightlife.  It's a wonderful area to base yourself for a cottage holiday.

Swansea is Wales' Waterfront City and is a modern, vibrant and compact city centre only a stones throw away from Wales' largest marina and newest museum, the National Waterfront Museum. It's a great city for an activity based holiday whether you're into walking, horse riding, surfing or golf.  If you're looking for something more traditional, head out to Mumbles, five miles along the coast from the city centre and enjoy the ice cream from the award winning ice cream parlours.

Finally, take a trip to the famous Gower Peninsula, Britain's first designated area of outstanding natural beauty.  With its beautiful countryside, picturesque villages and clean, sandy beaches, it's a great place to rent a holiday cottage for all the family.
