Australia & New Zealand are always a great draw for visitors and certainly do reward the traveller on a touring holiday.
With driving on the left so much more familiar to us here in the UK, they are great places to visit and you can expect to enjoy a holiday discovering everything there is to offer.
Places to visit on a fly drive or touring holiday
Australia is a huge country with most of the population centering around the South East coast - Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. However there is much to see in Western Australia with Perth the gateway. To the north you can visit the sub tropical areas of Cairns and Darwin with their National Parks. The Great Barrier Reef is unmissable off the West Coast and finally, in the centre there is Uluru (Ayers Rock)!
New Zealand gives its neighbour a run for its money. Made up of two islands, the country is superb for touring and fly drives, with the stunning Alpine and fjord scenery of the South (a la "Lord of the Rings") and the Maori culture and geysers of the North Island.
Taking a fly drive is more suitable for an individual area as opposed to visiting multi areas. An escorted tour is suitable for both small and large itineraries.
Fly drive holidays in Australasia
Fancy a fly drive holiday? Grab a map, research your route with some good guide books and then check prices.
When booking a fly-drive, you can choose from pre-planned tours which you may be able to tailor to your needs, or you can build a tour from scratch with a flight, car hire and separate accommodation.
To research pre-planned itineraries and combined flight and car deals we detail companies who can help you:
Escorted tours
Travelling in the comfort of a modern coach on your chosen itinerary is a great way to discover Australia or New Zealand. We detail companies who can offer both multi area tours as well as tours of the whole countries.
Luxury escorted tours
There are a range of providers who specialise in luxury tours of Australia and New Zealand, often staying in high class hotels and travelling in smaller groups, in top specification vehicles with the best guides in the industry. Itineraries are often more specialised yet still cover the countries in full.
Rail & river tours
Australia and New Zealand both have rail networks, however due to the distances involved, particularly in Australia, many people prefer to fly. However the journey from West to East or North to South in Australia is an amazing experience to appreciate the sheer size of the country and it's inland wilderness or 'outback'. Rail in New Zealand shows off the stunning scenery and there are tours utilising these services.
